Frequently Asked Questions for Faculty Advisors of Phi Sigma Iota International

FAQ for Advisors  (see also introductory FAQ)

1. What is our Chapter Number?

You can find your chapter number in the far right column of the Chapter Advisor Roster
http://phisigmaiota.org/Advisors.html

2. What is the price of membership?

The initial membership fee is $30 for the national dues plus whatever your chapter chooses to add for your own operating expenses. When members are initiated, their dues covers three years of membership.

4. What do the students receive?

Each initiate* receives a membership card, a certificate suitable for framing, a Phi Sigma Iota insignia (gold key/pin), and a PSI ribbon. *All materials are received by the faculty Advisor, not the student directly.

5. Do you send us certificates for our students?

You will receive a blank certificate for each new member. Certificates may be hand-calligraphied or printed using calligraphic fonts. You may request preprinted certificates from the secretary, but you must allow extra time for delivery. All certificates are hand-signed by the Phi Sigma Iota Executive President and Vice President.

6. What about cords and sashes?

Members are entitled to wear special graduation honors (stoles, cords and tassels). These are available through the PSI website (http://phisigmaiota.org/merchandise.html). Official PSI Regalia must have your signature as PSI Faculty Advisor on the following form: http://phisigmaiota.org/merchandise-order.html

Students may also check with their colleges: When they order their caps and gowns, they might be able to order a sash with all of their honor societies embroidered on it. The color is that of the school, however, not of the honor societies. Ours is majestic purple: http://phisigmaiota.org/merchandise.html#sash

6. Where do I send checks?

Phi Sigma Iota, World Language Education CPR 107
University of South Florida, 4202 E. Fowler Ave. Tampa, FL 33612
