Hello, and welcome to the new Phi Sigma Iota website! I hope you find it useful and easy to navigate. New features make it now possible to pay membership dues renewals, change address information, make donations and order initiation packets with the use of on-line forms and PayPal. New IRS rules for non-profit organizations and modifications to internal operational procedures have brought other changes as well. (Advisors: please read about the new requirements here.)

Please know that I am very committed to the future success of Phi Sigma Iota and will strive to make the International Headquarters both efficient and accountable. Except for vacations and holidays, the office will be staffed Mon. - Fri. from 9 am to noon and 1:30-5 pm Eastern time. You may leave a voice mail message in the event I am away from my desk; email will be checked daily and your correspondence and order forms will be given prompt and professional attention. With seventeen-plus years as the secretary to the Department of Modern & Classical Languages at Allegheny College and an undergrad degree in language education, I understand and believe in the goals and benefits of language acquisition and feel well-prepared for this new role. Special thanks go to former secretary Bernita May and Dorothy Mitstifer of ACHS for their help and encouragement during the transition.

While I am glad to report these new happenings within the Society, I must also call your attention to the old: The last issue of The Forum was 2005-06 and the Chapter News is out of date. Please, take a tour around the site, renew your membership, make a donation, then, read the submission guidelines and take a few minutes to update us on your chapter activities. Perhaps your stories can provide program ideas or networking opportunities to other chapters and confirm that we are an active Society involved in a vital and vibrant discipline. If your Chapter maintains a website, email the information so it can be added to the links included here. Help Phi Sigma Iota publicize and fulfill its mission to "recognize outstanding ability and high standards of students and faculty of foreign languages, literatures and cultures, including classics, linguistics, philology, comparative literature, ESL, bilingual education, and second language acquisition."

I look forward to serving you as Administrative Director and working with you in continuing to build a thriving organization, ready to meet the needs of our members.
